Step into paradise people. Palm prints, carved wooden tables, steel drum serenades and cocktails in coconuts. Expect all the frivolity of tiki with seriously visual drinks, show-stealing seafood platters and even a rum distillery upstairs. Pow. Georgi Radev aka. Tiki Big Daddy G (what a title) is the tiki-freak behind this place. Having done his thing at tropical mothership Mahiki for 10 years – yes this is the guy who brought us the treasure chest, kudos - he’s poured his rum-loving heart into this place and it shows. You’ll find BarChick swigging in the ‘snuggler’ cage at the back. The drinks don’t just look pretty, they’re made with house-distilled rums, homemade artisanal syrups and all made using natural ingredients. Like BarChick and all the best things the drinks are naturally sweet, making this the first bar in the world to serve each cocktail completely void of refined sugars. If we had to pick a favourite it’d be the velvety Guinness Punch in Manhattan made with Pusser’s Gunpowder Rum, Guinness and pimento reduction, mixed with a blend of vermouths and milk which is clarified, stirred and served over ice. Fancy. A night out, after work drinks or testing if that hot date is hard enough to handle a Zombie, you’ve got it. The party doesn’t stop until the early hours so get ready to flex the plastic and hula your way home at 2am. If you’re rolling with a crew book a big booth, but if organised fun is on the cards venture upstairs to the epic ‘Spiced Dry Rum Club’. Not only will you learn everything you need about the spirit, but you can take control of a copper alembic pot and make your very own bottle of the stuff.
