Queues round the block at MEATliquor meant it was about time these boys moved east and good job they did ‘cos this is our go to for badass burgers, killer cocktails, a rowdy crowd and big tunes. This place used to be a Christian mission, so religious plaques (read and repent) clash alongside Gilbert and George-esq artwork and deep red brothel lighting. Nice.

If you’re here to eat, grab a seat at the raised booths that circle the room, ask the staff for some chalk and get scribbling on the boards while you wait. The burgers are some of the best in town but get ready to get messy. The Garbage Plates are for sharing (or for fatties), oh and if you’re gonna get sides then the fried pickles and bingo wings are where it’s at.

The bar sits in the corner and hanging from it are bottles of absinthe, skulls, box fresh Nikes and the boys standing below all of this know exactly what they’re doing. Get used to the loud rock n roll music and order in, we went for The Pinot Grinchio with a refreshing finish of Pinot Grigio but if you’re with mates get the Below Job to share, 42BELOW vodka and Kamm & Sons are served up in a big ceramic sex face (no lie).

Best of all they’ve got enough space in the joint to take bookings, so perfect for overachieving planners plus last minute Hoxtonites. We see the future and there’s not a queue in sight. Amen.
