If you’re anything like BarChick then you will have very fond feelings towards tequila. Also drinking Margaritas in a bright n cheerful hacienda-style room in Oaxaca will be one of your happy places. What if you can’t afford to hightail it down Mexico way? Just join us at Santo Remedio, amigos.
Santo Remedio is a ‘Cocina Mexicana’ restaurant with a mezcal & tequila bar upstairs. It’s packed with stripy rainbow cushions, vibrant Mexican knick-knacks, and some of the best pork belly tacos we ever stuffed into our faces without pausing for breath. It’s owned and run by Edson & Natalie, both complete legends who want to bring Londoners the flavours of Mexico they love and grew up with.
Into your agave? Head upstairs to the bar and settle in. If Edson is around, ask him about mezcal, the guy’s got passion and will advise you on some sick varieties. Come for the weekend brunch and sink bottomless Margs alongside classics like Huevos Rancheros, or make a dinner reservation and feast on guacamole with actual fried grasshoppers (they’re a delicacy that Edson & Natalie import). Whatever you do, get stuck into that cocktail list. Killer twists like a Hibiscus Margarita and a Mezcal Negroni = congratulations. You've found a new happy place.
