AS IF The Savoy's first foray into alfresco dining was gonna be anything other than luxuriously extra. For the first time in the Savoy's 132 year history, the Savoy Court (AKA the bit usually used for high-rollers to park their cars) has been transformed into an exclusive short-season ‘pop-up’. When you're a hotel that embodies Art Deco & Edwardian elegance, you gotta exude that from the inside to the out, right? Well that's what Solas is doing, and she ain't doing it subtly.
This week's opening marks the beginning of the hotel's season-long fling with Islay's oldest whisky; Bowmore. Careful not to trip over your jaw as you walk up to the incredible 5-meter wide glistening chandelier adorned with crystals, decanters and stoppers hanging in the Court's centre. It's been inspired by the 62 grand chandeliers found inside the hotel (yeah, 62!) fused with the drama of the black rocks of the Scottish coastline where Bowmore whisky is crafted. We're glad they didn't have an Only Fools & Horses moment, cos this might just be the most beautiful installation we've ever seen.
You're right to expect insanely crafted cocktails on the menu. This is The Savoy, after all. For a serve that celebrates Bowmore’s unique craft which has been refined for over 240 years, order The Timeless cocktail, or sit back and relax with a Golden Eye and soak up some sleek 007 vibes. Rare Bowmore expressions are available to order (including Bowmore 27-year-old if you're feeling flash) along with a menu from the raw food bar, including a bad-ass three oyster selection served in a Bowmore oyster luge, paired with a choice of whisky, delicious lobster rolls, gravadlax and scallop ceviche amongst other mouth-watering dishes. If you've missed being boujie over lockdown, this is where to get your fix.
