There’s your local Thai joint, and then there’s the best Thai food you’ll eat this side of the ocean. Som Saa is the latter. Spitalfields is where you'll find this badass pop up-turned-restaurant and we couldn’t love it more. It's cool as f**k as well, set up in a converted warehouse. Nice.
They’re all about banging Thai flavours eaten sharer-style through their regional small plates. Expect tried and tested fusion of seasonal British produce with Thai ingredients to make some wicked dishes. Plus, they’re even making everything in-house from coconut cream to their jaew dipping sauce. Dishes like Gaeng Mussaman (mussaman curry of Cornish duck leg) and five-spice pork with soy egg might appear on the regularly changing menu, but trust us, it's all amazing. Order the more the merrier, you can't go wrong.
Better still it can all be washed down with a local crafted Asian brew or a Thai take on a classic cocktail. Naturally, BarChick had to have a go at the cocktail menu, where we found roasted coconut-infused cachaça, and a Muay Thai Kick with gin, Thai basil and kaffir lime leaf. Food that packs a punch with drinks to match? We've died and gone to heaven, and it tastes a lot like Thailand.
