Come to drink in a little bit of history and stay for the warm hospitality.
This is old school drinking at its finest - the history hidden inside The Stafford Hotel could fill the pages of a textbook (there's even a secret museum in the centuries-old cellars, now that's impressive).
It was named in the 30s as it was catering for the Americans who hit our shores, bringing with them the classic cocktails we know and love like Manhattans, Martinis and Sidecars. The baseball hats, ties & flags that brighten up the ceiling have all been casually donated to the bar by guests of the hotel. The rest of the decor is Grade A elegance - think polished wood, moss green velvet couches & golden lamplight. Swanky.
This place is so inviting it screams out for a session, so go settle in at a table. The Classics are king in here; if you're a fan of Sazeracs and Old Fashioneds then you're in the best hands. But for us, it's Martini o' clock every hour of the day and The American Bar have it nailed. Go for their Tasting Flight trio of Beluga Vodka Martinis. They all taste slightly different & come with three different garnishes - it's the kinda boozy education we love.
On sunny days you can escape to the hidden terrace - an oasis of calm right next to Green Park that most people don't even know exists. Congrats, you've found a new favourite watering hole.
