The Cat & Mutton

BARCHICK SAYS

Things are ticking along nicely at London Fields’ most notorious pub with the guys from Ruby’s at the reins.

A two storey pub in prime location for summer boozing and hipster hanging, The Cat & Mutton’s success was synonymous with the uprising of the London Fields area in general. Keep things classic on the ground floor where you’ll find a lengthy bar, ale and craft beer plus some wacky taxidermied muttons or leave your pint downstairs (seriously, rules are rules) and wind your body up the spiral staircase to Pearl’s for cocktails. Expect better manners and more creativity, there’ll be no swinging from the light fittings here, not before midnight anyway. Drink the Smoky Rock (mescal, blackberries, mint) until your bar stool sways and blame owner Tom Gibson for your hangover the next day.

Feeling peckish? Well the crazy kids at Mother Clucker are looking after the food  these days so if the sound of tea-brined, buttermilk soaked, fried chicken makes you weak in the knees, you know what to do.

One of our favourite things about the renovation? The loos; check them out on the basement level and viva la revolution.
