We’ve waited for this one to open for a while, and now it’s here we’re definitely getting down with it (and so should you). Shoreditch town hall is rising from its roots, standing tall over the ever hot happenings of hipsters and boozers, you’ll have to concentrate a little to spot “The Clove Club” sign. If you have trouble with the front door like BarChick, push hard, this place is not exclusive but the guys behind it are big and you might have to hustle your way in. The stark contrast from the outside grubby pavement to inside with its original Edwardian features, sky high ceiling and timber table tops worked for us.
Split into restaurant and bar, you can take a table around the free standing bar and snack on smaller plates or book into the restaurant and devour their five course menu. The food is from the Ten Bells Boys and Young Turks collaboration - it’s modern British and tastes as good as the hype predicted, well at least it did after all those cocktails. BarChick slipped up onto one of the original boxing spectator chairs at the bar and enjoyed The House Spritz, but with a weekly changing cocktail menu we’ll be dropping in on the regs to sample their creations.
This spot is a winner to start your Shoreditch night out but it’s a world away from the madness outside. We say kick back and enjoy yourself.
