Thanks to the long-awaited arrival of Villiers, the Gordon fam has well and truly made its mark on Villier Street. And with its A-star coffee credentials, Starbucks really should just pack up its oversized coffee cups and leave. Welcome to Villiers – an all-day dining den of deliciousness opened by sisters Sophie and Rosie.

Simplistic, rustic and charming are words you could throw about in here; bulbs hang from the ceiling, exposed brick makes up the back wall and diners tuck happily in on worsened wood tables. Take a seat at the bar and watch the baristas who double up as bartenders (and vice-versa) shake things up, or get comfy along the back wall on the turquoise banquette. We drank a La Gina with fino sherry, gin and Aperol and a Tommy Guns Collins with fino sherry, gin, apricot liqueur and elderflower. Both hit the spot nicely. If you’re popping in for breakfast start off the right way with a Red Snapper – hangover who?

The food here is the real star of the show. BarChick dreamt about the polenta chips with melting gorgonzola, the burrata and the crab croquettes with devilled Mary Rose sauce. Gordon family… stand up and take a bow.
