If you've never headed into the gaping, seductive shadow of The Mandrake's entrance then you're in for a treat - this place rocks. As boutique hotels go, The Mandrake is a winner. If Lewis Carroll, Vivienne Westward and Annie Leibovitz all put their heads together to create a sumptuous place to eat, drink and be merry then we reckon this would be the result. From the completely dazzling artwork that graces every room (courtesy of the owner's own mother), to the gothic-exotic fairy-tale vibes, it's a must-visit. 

Sure, it's a hotel, but it also boasts a hidden hot-spot of a restaurant in the form of YOPO. Named after a hallucinogenic substance that comes from the seeds of a legume in the jungles of Venezuela, they've taken the trippy-tropical aesthetic and run with it. Check out the huge tree in the centre of the restaurant that changes with the seasons, the amazing artwork tattooed across the ceiling, and the crazy ostrich-snake-creature in the corner. 

It's not just a feast for the eyes - your tastebuds are gonna be damn glad you came to YOPO too. The menu consists of South American small plates that jump off the page. Spinach, pinenut & ricotta empanadas got us in the mood; Devon crab with Oscietra caviar sealed the deal, and a sharing main of beer-braised pork belly tacos had us hooked.
