1862 Dry Bar

BARCHICK SAYS

For those who’ve had enough Gin & Tonics there’s 1862, a bar for the cocktail connoisseurs. You won't find Mojitos here, or any other sort of girly, fruity drink for that matter, but that's not what you came here for anyway, is it? Here it’s all classic cocktails - old school and modern along with several different kinds of whiskey, bourbon and cognac, boom.

Set in a former palace in the centre of Madrid, choose the street level with their wooden bar and high ceilings, or the cosily fitted dim-lit basement. No one quite knows where the name came from; 1862 marks the 'golden age of cocktails', the year the 1st book on cocktails was published and it's also the construction year of the building. Who knows?

What is clear however, after talking with the amazing bartenders, is that this is a serious establishment, served by passionate professionals who can talk your ear off for hours. In short these guys know their sh*t.
