This is the classy gent of the Madrid bar scene. Well-respected by all, a bit old fashioned and certainly traditional, it has earned its stripes. It may not be breaking any new trends, but this is an all-round classic, and one which you should check out on any trip to town.

Let's start with the way you're greeted by the staff. You’re basically wooed on your walk to the table - especially if you’re a BarChick in a short skirt. This is old school gallantry, and we’re total suckers for it.

The background music is at an appropriate volume for conversations – so get chatty as you enjoy your well made drinks. They’ve got long list of classic cocktails with a gin emphasis - their Gimlet is legendary - and in true Spanish style, their Gin Tonics list is extensive.

The décor isn’t particularly inspired – a bit 80's bleak. But the atmosphere is relaxed – it’s a good after work drink spot, though on weekends it can get pretty hectic. But hey, this is Spain so get used to it.
