Looming over the streets of Manchester and at the top of the Hilton Hotel, sits Cloud 23 (it’s in the clouds and that’s its floor number… duh). It's brimming with frothy cloud-like colours and textures, so think cream, white, gold and blue, along with some flashy loos and some non-offensive beats.
The view will never cease to impress up here and if you’re brave enough/had a few, then inch to the part of the bar with the glass floor (careful girls, passers-by below might see your knickers).
Their signature cocktails are named in honour of Manchester’s heritage and fables, so think Dalton’s Atomic Experiment, Gold Phantom and The Industrialist. We liked the Here’s to Baby with vodka, Galliano, peach and rosemary puree topped with Champagne, and the Collyhurst Cooler which is based on the legend of a giant cucumber laced with Absolute White Tea Vodka, lemon sherbet, ginger, apple and cucumber water.
While the cocktails are good, it’s definitely the view that you are paying for, so with that in mind bring the plastic. If it’s a weekend definitely book a table (numbers are strict for height/escape reasons, not to panic you), if you’re celebrating then do so with Pommery, but anything tastes good when you’re this high… (up).
