Inspired by an alcohol fuelled road trip from LA to Mexico, those crazy f***ers at Almost Famous decided it was about time Manchester was brought everything the Golden State had to offer. Located under their meat-loving sister in the heart of the Northern Quarter, the bar is full of quirky detailing, exposed brick and stripped back walls. If you're in it for the long haul, grab a tequila while you check out the cocktail menu in the downstairs bar. Head up the stairs at the back of the bar and you'll reach Mexican food heaven with mounds of meaty burritos, tacos and burgers to choose from. Their brilliant signature cocktail is a Largarita made with tequila, lime and lager, designed to wash down a hefty meal upstairs, while the South of the Border Swizzle (rum, lime, orange flower water, hibiscus and raspberry syrup and cranberry juice) is a firm favourite. The toilets are unisex so beware of lurkers, best to take a wingman to avoid awkward conversations.

BarChick made our way through the cocktail menu before challenging an unsuspecting hipster to a Man Vs. Burrito style eat-off upstairs. Obvs we won.
