An epic Southbank restaurant that isn't a chain. Hallelujah!
Just around the corner from Borough Market is the Metal Box Factory development, a 19th Century Victorian tin box printing factory that Mark Hix has got his hands on. He's headed south of the river this time and it’s working. The restaurant is upstairs but it's Mark's Bar downstairs that you want, the space is big, the bar is sunken and they've even got a train carriage installation in the corner!
The cocktails, as always are seasonal, heavy on the British and darn tasty. Go swanky with the Hix Fix (Lyme Bay English sparkling wine & morello cherry eau de vie, ooh get you) or make like BarChick and order a Hard As Fuck. Pampero Blanco, Wray & nephew, pink grapefruit, lime & maraschino liqueur is one punchy way to start the night right. Obvs the snacks are mega, have the Yorkshire pudding that's the size of your head or the Holy F*cked chicken wings (their words). Then you can hit the billiards table or go wild and have a game of (luminous) backgammon. Oh and don't miss the naughty loos with kinky wallpaper and sexy pics on your way out... woof.
