Gramps

BARCHICK SAYS

Despite what the name suggests, Gramps is not your grandpa’s kinda joint, unless, your grandpa knocks back the Moscow Mules like there’s no tomorrow and then hits up the dance floor despite his hip replacement? This indoor/outdoor space is just off the main street (NW 2nd Ave) of Miami’s street art Mecca Wynwood - look out for the orange building with G-R-A-M-P-S on top and ‘AIR CONDITIONING, COLD BEER, COCKTAILS’ on the walls. There may be security on the door, but the policy is more like “don’t act like a jerk and you’re welcome.”

Lined with booths for close encounters, the walls are covered in old Miami memorabilia like kitchy Seaquarium flyers. There’s a big backyard full of furniture that looks like it was once abandoned on a street corner. Order a craft beer or well-mixed cocktail from the short, ever changing menu and get comfy. Depending on the night, you can catch anything from a free pizza party (dubbed the “cheesiest party in town”), a stand-up comedy hour, a live band or a Bloody Mary bar (with prosciutto wrapped cherry tomatoes – we like!). When the art on the walls starts to blur sober up at the grilled cheese food truck out front.
