Arnaud's French 75

BARCHICK SAYS

When the neon colored Daiquiris start to lose their appeal on Bourbon Street and you just need a little class in your life, head to French 75. After a couple of their old school cocktails, you’ll wonder how you ever did anything else. Mardi Gras beads? As if!

Arnaud's has been around since 1918, with the legendary Count Arnaud Cazenave serving 'coffee' throughout Prohibition. That's our kinda guy. French 75, originally a 'gentlemen only' drinking area, reopened in 2003, in the more than capable hands of Chris Hannah, and the rest is history. The old world décor of the ornate room with animal print chairs, low lighting, dark wood panels and massive mirrors matches the drinks list to a T. Classic and easy without feeling tired or pushy. Drinks are fresh and fun with a seasonally changing menu expertly delivered by the most attentive and charming staff - there’s the Southern hospitality we keep hearing about. Feeling peckish? Their light snacks are the perfect pick-me-up. BarChick indulged on the deep fried bacon wrapped oysters which went down perfectly.

Everyone eventually ends up at the French, so sit for a while - you never know who you might see hanging out here. But one thing's for sure, you’ll find BarChick at the bar.
