This is your standard Irish bar, but better and more mental. Just off Bourbon, the Erin Rose is one of the best local haunts in the area, with plenty of characters propping up the bar.

The whole joint is plastered in random shit: autographed car parts, biker gear, Irish stuff, photos of wasted people and old signs including a glowing ‘Prescription’ sign above the bar. The front room is tiny – they’ve put the loos in the cupboard, no joke. Beyond that is a small room packed with arcade games, and then the back room, now home to former pop up Killer Poboys. These bad boys are as good as they claim, part of the trend for gastro pimped Poboys in town. We love the Dark & Stormy Pork Belly Poboy with NOLA Rum ginger glaze, lime slaw and garlic aioli. So damn tasty.

Grab yourself one of their frozen Irish coffees, they’re famous for them, this stuff is like rocket fuel which explains the brilliant drunken chaos normally going on in here. Then have a go at the Erin Rose board game – as far as we can tell, it’s a glorified version of spin the bottle. Prepare to get silly.
