Absolutely everything about the Ace Hotel is rock n’ roll: the hotel rooms have kegs in the fridges, the showers can host at least 10 people (or so we've heard) and the adjoining restaurants and coffee shops are seriously first-rate. But what’s the best thing about this place? The lobby: it doubles as one of Midtown’s hippest hangouts. Picture a cavernous space with wood-panelled walls, enormous ceilings, oversized u-shaped red suede couches & a wall covered in graffiti & you’re pretty much there.

The free wifi makes the place look a bit like a university tech library during the day, with more MacBooks than the Apple store, but come night time it’s a loungey hangout with DJs, live acts, dim lighting & a cool crowd. If you do end up here when it’s light out, get yourself some Stumptown & let the bad *ss baristas help you wake up the right way. More of a nightcrawler? So is Barchick: bring a group of friends, commandeer one of the couches, drink classic cocktails & craft beer & eat caramel popcorn. After a few rounds you’ll want to hit the bar’s photo booth, but don’t worry: we’ve all been there. Just make sure to clean up the evidence and you’re ace, baby.
