When the neon chaos of Times Square gets too much, it’s good to know about this classy hideaway high above the commercial cluster f*ck. Enter the alarmingly bright hall of The Hyatt and head up to the 54th floor.

They’re insanely welcoming even if you look a little bedraggled from the drizzle (sorry!), which we recommend you don’t, because it’s Sunday best style swish. The cocktail list was created by hot chick Julie Reiner (of Clover Club and Pegu Club), and the suave French man behind the bar knew his stuff. The menu is long, and we’re not big readers, so we put ourselves in his hands and boy, did he deliver. The Santana's Sour spiced our lips (Cabeza Blanco Tequila, lime, jalapeño syrup, pineapple and cilantro), but it was the Improved Tequila Cocktail (Partida Reposado Tequila, Del Maguey Vida Mezcal, orange curacao, absinthe and angostura bitters), which knocked us for six, because it’s just booze, with booze as a garnish. The free savoury popcorn helped.

The styling is a bit first class airport lounge, which fits with the international business crowd. But who cares, with Manhattan views like along with the smashing tunes.

NB. Be warned, it’s expensive, verging on stupidly so. Bring out the company card for this one.
