BARCHICK SAYS

This great little corner bar was once a golden ode to seventies disco in all its absurdity. Things have certainly changed, and now you'll find in its place, although from the same team, a low-key neighborhood joint named after the ol’ American standard beer and shot combo, which we know and love.

It’s pretty no frills. Bare brick. Warhol-style retro tins on shelves. Simple seating arrangement around the edge and at the bar. Cozy. They re not breaking any boundaries in the style stakes, and that's why it works. The cocktails are spot on, with a handful on tap, such as the Five String Banjo (bourbon & Billy Pilgrim’s Spiced Cream Soda) or the classic Zombie. They’ve a tidy selection of craft beers too. Naturally barkeep Erick Castro goes big on the boilermakers, changing seasonally to match the drafts. Get yourself one of those and a bucket of spicy wings or their award-winning burger. The kitchen is open late - perfect.

No wifi and no no nonsense.
