BARCHICK SAYS

Want a night out in LES, but can’t handle the hipsters? Well, Hill & Dale is just the spot. It’s like going down a rabbit hole, and in a good way.

Named after one of the earliest recording methods, the entrance is filled with little booths, and old recording equipment, perfect for taking over with a few friends. But the real party is out the back where a main bar space with a mirrored ceiling opens up. With plush couches and a fireplace, it feels pretty swank, but the staff are so laid back and cool there’s no snobbery.

Coming from the same people behind the awesome Brooklyneer, we weren’t surprised to find their libations incredibly drinkable. The Menlo Punch rocked our world: house-made lemonade and iced tea blended with Pimm's No. 1, steeped in rosemary and thyme. And the best part: it’s customizable. Choose your float between vodka, gin, spiced rum, bourbon or tequila.

Of course that couldn’t be the whole package. They also have amazing food (think pork belly sliders and poutine) and sweet DJs. The back area is also perfect for private hire.
