Named for the coffin factory that once occupied this high ceilinged warehouse space, the Pine Box is anything but dead. The owners, Seattle transplants, have brought a little West Coast charm to Bushwick and, being Bushwick, a vegan-friendly menu of beers and cocktails. You won’t be judged for wearing leather, so don’t get your pretty leather skirt in a twist. In fact, if you’re a meat eater, you would never even know.

They have a pretty awesome beer selection with over twenty on the go and occasional guest stars. We started with a 21st Amendment Back in Black, which was an easy ride; smooth and hoppy with dark, rich malts. Cocktails more your thing? That’s cool, they got you covered. The Sam in a Sweater caught our eye (Crystal Head Vodka, Cointreau, house-made (vegan) Irish cream and A&W root beer).

There’s space in the back of this pine wood lined bar for pretty kick ass gigs, and DJs do their thing too, but our favorite night is the Wednesday Trivia, and trust us, it gets crazy. Get here early, and make the most of every pointless fact you’ve ever learnt by winning free drinks for your team.
