A tiki diner is a great idea in our books, especially when it’s from veteran barkeep Jim Kearns (Pegu Club, the NoMad) and Jon Neidich of Acme. That’s great drinks, great food and party vibes covered.

There’s a gleaming cocktail bar in the front, which could easily keep you happy with its mix’n’match cocktail list, quick service and good looking locals. The seasonal bases can each be spiked with a liquor of your choosing. Badass. And they do awesome classics too.

If you’re peckish head back to the diner area, with cartoon palm wallpaper and shelves packed with the curios from some island-hopping bartenders’ adventures: Cuban cigars, golden pineapples, panama hat-wearing crocodile heads, the usual. The bar snacks are great. The burger is awesome and dripping just like it should be. Expect the downstairs to open at some point with a classic cocktail lounge and great soundtrack. We’re not even sure they have a happy hour, which feels a little like false advertising, but we’ll forgive them for another root beer float.
