Ty Bar at the Four Seasons

BARCHICK SAYS

The bars in NYC's five star hotels are like worlds of their own, filled with glam hotel guests, bankers and ladies of the night. If you fancy rubbing shoulders with that lot, head to the fairest of them all, The Bar at The Four Seasons in Midtown. The room itself is beyond compare - high ceilings, hardwood floors, and big windows letting in the light. The drinks are pricey, but great value - Martinis are huge and served generously in your own mini shaker (it's enough for at least a drink and a half!) on a silver platter with dried cherries to munch on, yum. They have a fantastic menu of bar food, but they'll keep refilling your snack tray all night, so if you're skint then stick to the olives and nuts.

The tables by the window are some of the hottest real estate in the city, usually reserved for hedge fund managers, people who own jets and Oprah, but smile nicely at the bar manager Nurkan and you might just score one. If not, sit in the comfy area between the bar and the Michelin starred L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon next door, where you can admire the breathtaking design of the hotel. The staff have been there forever so service is slick.

Still hungry? Break the bank and sit at the counter in L'Atelier, the mashed potato is the best in the world, it's 3:1 butter to potato!
