For a start, this place is on Pink Lane – so it’s worth a visit just for that surely? Don’t be disappointed though, the lane doesn’t look exactly like it says on the tin.
It’s really close to Central station, so start as you mean to go on and make it one of your first stops when you get off the train.
There’s also an upstairs roof garden (which there aren’t many of in Newcastle) and because it’s hidden down a little lane (which isn’t pink), you get the ‘in’ crowd (like BarChick) who know the scene.
The Forth used to host Victorian boxing matches back in the day, and it still packs a punch in terms of Newcastle bars. The décor is traditional but kinda funky with blue walls, chandeliers and a big long bar, and the crowd is a mixed bag from students to professionals alike. People come to drink beer here and eat British grub, they’ve got everything from American craft beers to British cask ales, but if that’s not your thing they will spice up your Bloody Mary or mull your wine, oh and they have a weekly wine club too, sign us up.
