This Bermondsey basement bar is all about good times and sustainability. A combo we're a big fan of. And they’ve well and truly cracked the formula – to painstakingly give a sh*t about everything they do while knocking up cracking cocktails in the process. No surprise it got BarChick’s attention. It’s about more than just making epic cocktails. It’s about salvation - nothing wasted, everything lovingly sourced & selected with intention. The name makes a bit more sense now, huh?
There are some serious tropical colonial vibes going on here. They call it ‘Tropicalifornication’ – think leaves snaking down from bamboo scaffolding, and cosy seats parked on parquet floors, all repurposed from past lives. Even the sound system is resurrected: until 2015 it powered London Bridge’s legendary club, Cable. Now on Saturday nights, it’s responsible for cranking out a killer soundtrack to accompany after-dark drinking 'ti 1am.
The cocktails here are banging. Like, really something special. The Regular Joe Old Fashioned has been revamped with poached banana to give it a tropical sweetness, while The Moby Dick is a bit of a legend on the menu. The secret to its success has gotta be the coconut washed Johnnie Walker Black Label Whisky which they combine with salted caramel. Yeah - told ya it was good.
