The White Horse

BARCHICK SAYS

Don’t be taking any of your tall friends with you because they will have to hunch over, and the chances of getting a table are pretty slim. Having said that we joined a table of true Oxford breeds, a couple of lanky looking types hunched over books on Greek mythology, but they were pretty hospitable.

This really is your quintessential Oxford pub. With low ceilings, a focal wooden bar stuffed with booze bottles and beer on tap and a warm and inviting atmosphere. Coins and notes are stuck all over the back bar, alongside beer mats and Oxford posters.  There is a familiar smell of beer mingled with pub grub (they are famous for their fish and chips) and there is the odd musician entertaining the inhabitants. If you’re big into your telly then you might recognise it from Inspector Morse and Lewis… exciting stuff.
