BarChick loves to make an entrance and entrances don't get any grander than the one at Apicius. Walk past sculptures in the luxe front garden and up the path to the 18th-century mansion (Luc Besson, of Mr Robo Cop and Fifth Element, has his film house and production office at the top). You’ll be greeted by an army of smiling waiters. The level of service is not surprising; Apicius is primarily a Michelin-starred restaurant (with a one month waiting list), but the sleek bar is worth a visit alone, and you don't need to be a dining to pull up a stool. Valentin, the Head Bartender, knows his stuff, which is lucky, as there's no menu. Just let him know your preferences, and relax as you're in great hands.
This place is glam - think crystal chandeliers and ornate columns - so dress up and prepare to splurge. The bar snacks come in the form of small bites - warm olive soufflé, mini croque monsieurs and foie gras pate - the best BarChick had tasted, and better still they keep bringing them over when you finish your first. BarChick managed 4. Definitely do the same and save your money for more of Valentin's killer cocktails.
