BARCHICK SAYS

Loud music, stripped-back walls, a spiral staircase in the corner, beards, tattoos, mind-blowing food and lots of mezcal. This rock & roll restaurant is like a recipe for how to make BarChick happy. What was once an Irish pub was gutted and kept bare to make way for the brainchild of hot Aussie chef James Henry. Just to give you an idea of how badass this guy is, for their first birthday, they had a tattooist on site to ink people up while partying.

One of 2013’s super-hot openings, they’re still going strong with lots of regulars and an ease of service that makes you instantly feel at home. While the whole menu is bangin’, we like to prop up the little bar at the front, knock back shots of mezcal and happily munch on the bar snacks. There's a tidy list of strong and to the point cocktails, as well as a nice selection of beer and wine to sort you out good and proper.

Often said to have a “Brooklyn feel,” James had actually never even been before opening its doors. Great minds and all that.
