Frenchie Wine Bar

Frenchie Wine Bar

BARCHICK SAYS

Tucked down a little side street, just off Senator is the small but mighty Frenchie empire. There’s a kick ass restaurant, a take away mini version (Frenchie To Go) and then the wine bar, which is where you’ll find us. It gets used as an overflow for diners, but it’s awesome in its own right. Massive windows fill the space with natural light, and white-washed bricks and dark ceiling beams give it a kind of modern country house feel. With limited opening hours and just two small rooms, this place gets packed. Drinkers even start lurking around before opening hours secure a place. If you don’t manage to snag a spot right away, scrawl your name on the chalkboard, grab a glass of vin and hang out in the alley (in a non-seedy way) until something comes up – that’s half the charm of this place anyway. Once you claim a small table with tractor seat stools, order a couple of small plates of their tasty food (by mega chef Greg Marchand). And when the lights go up, you’re just around the corner from the infamous ECC to keep the party going.
