Although this place calls itself a bar it’s actually a casual restaurant, serving excellent cocktails. French brasserie in style and naughty by nature, Bar Astor is situated at Impanema's most prestigious crossroads, the corner of Vieira Souto and Rainha Elizabeth avenues.
If you want to play with the cool kids then glam up and get your rad on here, this place is cool. Mirrored columns, fluted ceiling lights, and floors of Portuguese tiles compliment the 130 year old saloon bar from Tennessee. Pair this with red leather stools and epic sea views and you’ve got yourself a winner.
The waiters are smartly dressed and run around with trays of draft beer which they’ll replace as soon as you’ve finish, appreciated thanks.
The cocktails are classic and well made, go for an Apple or Lychee Martini or try the G&T, which is served in a large brandy/pint glass. Bar Astor closes around 2- 3am every night but if like BarChick you like to know your afterparty options, RJ Studio nightclub is conveniently upstairs and doesn’t close til the last man standing falls, now that’s the kind of license we’re into.
