Bar Agricole

BARCHICK SAYS

Bay area native and worldwide cocktail guru Thad Vogler, has changed the game. Behind a dark wooden wall, wedged among some of the busiest/grimiest clubs in the city, is an L.E.E.D gold-certified modern tavern, bringing farm fresh food and innovative takes on classic cocktails to a whole new and eco-friendly level. Named for his favorite rum, Agricole, Volger has focused on the individual product - the walls are reclaimed wood, the chairs are made from old wine barrels and the featured art is all from locals. Check the striking visual skylights which are lined with long glass tubes.

Come here to kick off a night out, leave or stay all night, its up to you. The crowd is pretty dolled up, with a fair number of suits and heels, knocking back drinks and comparing office gossip. Just be warned, the high ceilings aren’t very noise friendly and the volume gets quite loud so it’s not great for a big catch up.

Start with a Sleepyhead, a concoction of brandy, ginger, mint, lime and sparkling wine, which will make you want to do anything but sleep. Hungry? With locally sourced ingredients (most from their farm) it costs a pretty penny, but it’s totally worth it.
