Cocktails based on conversation? That's what BarChick is all about. A pioneer of the Singapore cocktail scene, Bar Stories is known for local style, friendly faces and damn fine beverages. Tucked away on the second story of a Haji Lane shop since 2012, they’ve just been improving with time.

The small but nicely thought-out back bar compliments their signature bespoke style with an ever-changing array of fresh produce. The bar staff will figure out exactly what you’re after from a few key questions; and then, sit back and let them do the thinking. Cocktail creation may take a little time, but you’ll see why once they get working. They do cracking classics for the cautious too, though that’s not what this place is about.

Just like colourful Haji Lane itself, the all-round vibe is upbeat party times. It’s tough for it not to feel lively – it’s so small it’s pretty much packed out the whole time, with just bar stools around the centre stage bar and a few other seats, all in a minimal yet comfortable style. The furniture is from their downstairs shop, A Thousand Tales, and all for sale. They also have a fantastic food menu, so once you nab a spot, get stuck in for the long haul.
