Serious cocktail prowess is kicking about here. The fact that on their menu they have a list called ‘insanely good cocktails’ instantly assured us we were in the right place. These include a piece of icy heaven called the Frozen White Russian, served with whipped cream. Naughty. 

The bar at the front has received some serious antique loving. Gilded, glam, with some Art-Deco swagger. We got a sense it’s evoking the cocktail party ambience of the roaring twenties. Move on to the back lounge and it’s cosier. Think lavender marble-topped bar and intimate booth seating to get canoodling with that date of yours.

The final area is a spacious back garden. Those familiar with New York will know this is a rare find, so pile on in on a balmy night and get drinking your Pumpkin Manhattan al fresco. There’s even a handy service window so you don’t need to lose your spot beneath the string of lights. Don’t miss the daily happy hours either. Also, leave room for one of their West-Coast burgers. We weren’t sure what this meant either until we got one in our face. Basically, it comes with Californian-style sauce. Here, this means Thousand Island. The bar is open until 3am daily, there's more than enough time to enjoy all that Stay Gold has to offer. And with that, we were sold.
