Earl’s Juke Joint

BARCHICK SAYS

Looking for quality drinks this end of Newtown? Then don't drive past that sign advertising quality meats because that butcher shop is really the front for Earl's Juke Joint. It’s a New Orleans inspired bar where having a good time is mandatory, and getting acquainted with ye neighbours at the bar is positively encouraged (just don't be creepy, that's house rule no. 2).

Prop yourself at the large mahogany expanse of a bar and make new friends over a long Pfife Dawg (rum, lime, bitters and sugarcane juice) or a long refreshing craft brew and their complimentary bhuja snack mix, which is the only food they serve here. Feeling anti-social? Swill your booze by the few tables dotted about by the side of the room under the gaze of the many jazz greats whose mug shots adorn the walls.

And if you hear Triumph by the Wu Tang Clan play, remember house rule no. 5; "there will momentarily be no bar service, at least for the first verse anyway."
