A bar with its own video trailer about falling in love with cowboys gets everyone’s vote right? Welcome to Shady Pines Saloon, whose door policy is genius: ‘Absolutely no door policy, functions or door list. Everyone is welcome’.

So you could be sharing monkey nuts with a group of cowgirls or sitting at a table next to The Veronicas and some guy off X Factor like we were. Elvis was playing when we arrived and a big wooden carved North American Indian greeted us at the top of the stairs. Vegetarians beware, the decor is OTT, with every animal that you can think of shot and mounted covering every bit of wall space – it includes a wrinkly cow, birds, wild boar and a trout face (personal favourite).

We drank artesian beers, and although there’s no cocktail menu, just tell the tattooed barmen what you fancy and they'll deliver. We enjoyed a Jack Daniels straight out of a cows hoof. AWESOME. That alongside the rowdy crowd (no bar brawl on our watch – but you might be lucky!) makes for a pretty rockin bar.
