Stitch Bar

BARCHICK SAYS

Hidden in a basement bar behind a wall of singer sewing machines and a rack of clothing is Stitch Bar, a fantastic CBD (Central Business District) speakeasy with amazing cocktails and wicked hot dogs. Win winner.

Get here early, this place gets rammed - think five deep at the bar from 6pm Thursday and Friday. You don’t want to miss this place, so use your waiting time wisely and browse the cocktail list, it’s full and promising. Opt for a Long and Tall Sally, Big Fat Mamma, Love me or Die, or a Back Door Man… BarChick loves a cocktail that lives up to its name. There are clever adaptations here as well as unique offerings such as Grandma’s Addition made with Stitch’s homemade spiced rum shaken with Mandarine Napoleon, Tiki spicy syrup, lime juice and orange bitters.  The barmen know their stuff, so take the time to get stuck in, they’re up for a chat and proud of what they’ve got for you.

This place is Sydney’s Ardbeg Embassy, so if you’re into your scotch you better be packing plastic, you’re looking at $26 for the top shelf, but then you can’t put a price on happiness can you? Food is served no frills in plastic baskets at the bar (if you get a spot) or in the main ‘restaurant’ area… in case you need a little down time after getting carried away with that poetic cocktail list.
