Thelonious

BARCHICK SAYS

When Thelonious opened in 2000 it was the first bar in Buenos Aires to play live jazz, it’s since become the city’s undisputed home of the genre.

Simple yet stylish dark wooden floors and high ceilings of exposed brick adorn the place and tasteful low lighting sets the mood for an evening of jazz. Turn up Wednesday to Saturday to catch jazz bands from the world over, it really is a treat. If you want a good view you’ll need to book a table and if you want a bit of one-on-one smooching time then go for one of the two sofas on the balcony, shabba.

Once you’re settled in your seat and feeling sophisticated, order one of the house cocktails from the friendly, Bohemian staff. We went for the jazzily name Jazzy Gospel Martini, and felt like doing jazz-hands throughout.
