We like this bar’s southern style and badass attitude almost as much as we like its booze. It’s all about the strong spirits, good vibes and rockin’ music. And they call their spirits ‘grog & hooch’. Get out the bloody banjo baby.
They have a bangin’ bourbon list – 25 in total - and in a town which is all about the dark stuff that’s saying something. They also have 33 kinds of rum, which is a bit different for a TO bar, offering flights of the stuff for the curious (drunks). The cocktail list is short and strong, with great attention to detail. Their Manhattan was voted Toronto’s best by a local rag.
By day it’s bright, open, fairly minimal with lots of wood paneling to bring out your inner lumberjack. The food brings in a lot of folk – think Southern comfort with lots of maple syrup, pulled pork and sauce. The kinda food that makes you wanna get messy. We like the Monday Bourbon Brunch: Wild Turkey BBQ Bloody Caesar followed by Wild Turkey Cured Pork Belly and Molasses Baked Beans. Followed by a heart attack.
