First up, this bar is within one of Venice’s fanciest hotels so dress the part, the bartenders sure have. Inside it’s all old school glamour with a beautiful dark wood bar, pimping chandeliers and mirrored ceilings so perfect if you want to drape over a vintage velvet sofa and sip on martinis ‘til the early hours. The terrace is where it’s at during the day, perfect for ladies who long lunch. The views across the central lagoon are ridiculous and the tables face out to Isola Di San Giorgio so if you can't be arsed to take the boat over there you can tick that one off your list, drink in hand. Win.

It ain’t cheap (but then why are you in Venice?) but this Martini menu is one of the best on the island. BarChick took one look at the rosemary growing all over the terrace and went for the Last Cocktail – a gin based classic infused with rosemary. A sip of this and it sure won’t be your last cocktail, you’ll just be getting started.
