Bartenders

Marco Corallo

Where are you currently working?

I am working at Artesian in The Langham London

Tell us something about the industry we might not know!

In my career, I have worked as a sommelier, restaurant manager, beverage manager, and of course as a bartender. As much as I like all the other roles, bartenders are the real artists of the industry, which I believe also impact our lifestyle, both positively and negatively, as artists are very sensitive and emotional people.

What is your favourite cocktail?

As I am getting wiser, I am starting to enjoy Dry Gin Martinis more and more, 6 to 1 with a dash of bitters and lemon zest.

Ever had a bad-ass/rock n roll bartending moment?

Stepping in a ring with pro-wrestlers in Mexico City during Bacardi Legacy Global Cocktail competition in 2018, while my fellow bartenders were hyping my inner superhero. I believe it still counts as a Bartender Moment!

Where will we find you on your nights off?

It really depends on my mood and even more, on my wife’s mood. You could find me in a good old-fashioned pub with a pint of Guinness and comfort food, as well as questing for new culinary or cocktail destinations.

If you weren’t tending bar, what would you be doing?

I would probably still be working in fashion. Not that many people know, but straight out of high school I worked for in a tailors shop for two years back in Italy, where I learned all about men suits and I had my first glimpse of guest service.

What is your desert island bottle?

Tough to say but I will probably go with Macallan 30 years

What is your hangover cure?

A bowl of Carbonara with pecorino cheese, egg yolks and guanciale. High in carbs, protein, salt and fat will revive me even in the worst of the mornings!!

If you were gonna create a cocktail for BarChick, what would you make?

I would call it the Most Wanted Highball: Amontillado Sherry, Tomato Water Cordial. Saline solution and Soda. Every bartender dream!!
