Duck & Rice

Duck & Rice

BARCHICK SAYS

Duck and Rice is probably the poshest pub in town, the clue’s in the 6 massive shiny barrels that greet you when you enter off Berwick street. There's an epic restaurant upstairs but we say rough it pub style downstairs.

First things first those tanks are full of Pilsner Urquell, which is apparently the freshest beer you can get - it’s not pasteurised and it goes off in five days. These guys get through a tank (880 pints) every 2 days so no need to worry about it getting old in here. Not bothered? Well they have another 50 or so brews to choose from and don't even get us started on the cocktails. The Gin Mare G&Ts are essential. You’re here for the long haul.

This place is Alan Yau’s (Hakkasan, Yauatcha, Busabai etc) first "Chinese pub" concept bar and it’s working; the decor is beautiful and ornate like all his places and the food is f*cking killer. Jasmine ribs, venison pork puffs and duck n rice bowls if you get there early (and do cos they run out). Who needs Yauatcha next door when you can come here? Same same but different.
