The Elephant Bar at The NoMad Hotel

BARCHICK SAYS

In an area once known as Satan’s Circus, this is our kind of wicked. There’s something dark and mysterious about this place with its ornately carved elephants along a mahogany bar, lots of leather and a rather impressive literary collection. Tucked into the back of the NoMad Hotel, it’s the perfect spot to perch and make eyes at a mysterious stranger, or go a bit further into the Library and settle into one of their luxurious sofas. The crowd is well heeled, but hardly snooty, with a mixture of trendy hotel guests and classy boozehounds. The NoMad likes their bar a certain way - pleasant and not over crowded – and if they feel it’s reached a capacity that edges on cramped, they will turn you away, in the nicest way possible. Got a question about a spirit or concoction? The staff have really done their revision and know their stuff. They are totally willing to share secrets and guide you through the menu. We adored the Piedmont Fizz with London Dry Gin, Cocchi Americano, absinthe, lemon and a bit of sparkling water. Super refreshing and still strong.
