The definition of a gastrobar is somewhere that serves high end food with drinks to match, and by this reasoning, Rons has definitely branded itself under the right moniker. In an area rich with Dutch celebrities, It is very well-known for its delicious food (the chef has two Michelin stars in his own right) and the drinks are equally as good.

Settle on the terrace outside if it’s sunny, it’s pretty mega and not only is it a great sun trap, but watching Amsterdam float on by will keep you occupied for hours. Inside the décor is clean and crisp, with orderly tables and a great central marble bar, around which we suggest you sit.

Stocked above the bar are bottles of perfectly pale rose amongst a lot of artisan spirits. We started with a deliciously crisp G&T in a huge bubble glass then moved on to slush puppy Piña Coladas which were damn good. Make sure you get a plate of smoked meats and other bar dishes, they will be sure to make a party in your mouth.

Perfect for a special occasion, but if you’re looking to tear it up, then move along please.
