A special occasion joint, if you’re on a tight Thai budget then be warned because your notes won’t get you far here. If you’re packing plastic or splashing the cash, then make your way to Banyan Tree Hotel and hit button ‘61’ in the elevator. Trust us, you’re in for a good time.
The large multi-tiered bar, located in the centre of the room, is perfect for a spot of people-perving, but if no one tickles your fancy then there are always the panoramic views to fall back on, right?
There’s a massive range of cocktails, liqueurs and spirits here, but the signature menu made us feel like we were reading an Argos catalogue whilst sitting in The Ritz. A well-executed Watermelon Caipiroska was tailed by an insipid Vertigo Sunset – made from Malibu, cranberry, lime and pineapple juice, the sort of drink that belongs at a 1995 school disco. But don’t let that put you off: come for dinner and tuck into the ample wine cellar instead.
