Bar Crispin

Café by day, wine bar by night

We wouldn't usually recommend confronting the throngs of tourists and shoppers around Oxford Circus, but for this chilled wine bar on Kingly Street, we'll make an exception. Despite being on the more intimate side, this new spot at the top of Soho has space for 42 thirsty customers, with a food menu that'll take ya from your breakfast of expertly blended speciality coffees and buttery baked goods through to your post-work bottle of vino and a slick dinner of small plates.

Natural wine lovers: Bar Crispin's 150-strong wine list is for you. It's a kick-ass list curated by the venue GM and in-house sommelier Alex Price (who used to pop bottles at Mayfair celeb hangout Annabel's like a G). If you're struggling to choose a bottle from the varieties of Old World and indigenous grapes, the wines by the glass are killer. Commitment has never been our thing so we played the field with a crisp white before moving onto a rich, fruity deep-coloured rosé and finishing with a dry and rich sparkling Pet Nat. If you love wine tastings and clever food pairings, you'll wanna join Alex for her monthly events in the elegant Green Room downstairs.

To go with the wines there's a buff menu of dishes that pair epically with a natural glass on the 10-seater dining terrace. Native oysters with shallots slide back like satin, while the charred sweetheart cabbage with cucumber brings mad flavour to the table. Like the idea of a slice of Pig's head, or maybe a bowl of black garlic ice cream? It's all been cooked up by head chef Brendan Lee. He has a background in running Michelin-starred restaurants in the US, so you should def give it a go.
