ČSA Bar

BARCHICK SAYS

We can be hard-pressed to find a decent bar on Friedrichshain’s Karl-Marx-Allee. Luckily ČSA Bar, the former-Czech-airline-headquarters-turned-cocktail-lounge, is the exception.

The vast drinks menu contains all the classics and then some, although we always recommend the monthly specials. BarChick went for a Prince of Wales, which matched the timeless vibe of the place, followed by a Porto Flip for a liquid dessert. The service can be a bit hit-and-miss, but we’ll forgive them because we can’t fault the drinks, and they got us a sophisticated level of p*ssed.

It has a hotel lobby feel in a good way - kinda like a Communist Pan Am Lounge. With high ceilings, stone walls and a long bar, it's a classy affair. The classic lounge beats make this a spot for a grown-up date, and the crowd is slightly more dressed-up than your average bar-hopping Berliner. Check out the built-in ashtrays on the tables too, though happily, it isn’t eye-wateringly smoky in here like so many other Berlin bars.
