Get yourself down to Gaucho in the DIFC (Dubai International Financial Centre) for prime ass, handpicked steak, the largest selection of Argentine wine outside Argentina and some seriously slick service. Don’t let the car park entry fool you – you’re about to discover a black and white mirrored oasis that you wish was your lounge. The cowhide covered walls may not be vegetarian friendly (65 cows sacrificed their hides for these walls), but it looks smarter than it sounds. Cross the glass bridge above the high-ceilinged restaurant (watch your skirt Marilyn) to reach the 18-metre marble bar. Chill on the couches while the regular DJs play, or watch the sous chef whip you up a feast of Argentinean bar snacks at the bar kitchen.

The charismatic bartenders have all bases covered with the likes of the The San Lucas (the Argentine version of a Mojito with cinnamon-infused rum, mint, lime sugar and bitter lemon) or the Claridge (gin, Noilly Prat, apricot brandy and a dash of Cointreau garnished with a lemon zest), a Latin American classic named after the hotel in which it was created (the Argentine Claridges). Credit where credit is due, they’re also to thank for BarChick’s best Espresso Martini in Dubai.

Gaucho is the place to smooze and booze amongst corporate power lunches or spend evenings brimming with sophisticated Downtown Dubai-ans.
