The Last Word Saloon

BARCHICK SAYS

Brought to you from the guys behind the amazing Bramble, this place is on fire boys (literally, there’s a fire to the right as you walk in). Set in the quieter part of town, head in off the street and down the stairs and you’ll find this perfect secluded drinking den. It’s kinda sexy with candles, firelight and a good selection of rock n roll and country music.

The walls are antiquated dark green, there are lots of good seated areas (all fur rugs and cushions) and interesting objects adorn the walls like stag antlers, an old Merc car bonnet and a darts board (it’s fake, don’t bring your Winmaus along).

Sit at the bar between the casks and the old globe shaped bar and get looking through the menu – it’s a triumph - or even order off the daily specials board. We drank the John Candy with Ketel One Vodka, pineapple and sage shrubs, pineapple bitters and ginger beer, it was damn good, or order The Candidate with La Penca mezcal, thyme infused honey and chilli jam.

Oh and don’t forget to wave to the cat on your way out, you’ll see.
